Why is health insurance important?

Health cost is increasing at an alarming rate worldwide. Medical inflation is highest in India. New diseases are emerging and their treatment cost is increasing. Health cost can make a big hole in the individual’s pocket if prior provision is not made in advance.

Medical emergencies come unannounced. To get the best medical facilities without a financial burden you will need health insurance. Buying a health cover is no longer an option but has become a compulsion. Only 1.1 billion of the Indian population which is less than 15% of the Indian population is covered through health insurance.

According to WHO statistics, 31% and 47% of the hospital admissions in urban and rural India are either financed by loans or through the sale of assets. Additionally, as per the statistics, 70% of Indians spend their entire income on healthcare and 3.2% of Indians fall under the poverty line owing to high medical bills.

Health Insurance has come up as a big relief. Health insurance increases accessibility to quality healthcare, private healthcare in particular where the costs remain a barrier for many. It will ensure that you get appropriate treatment in a timely manner. Irrespective of your financial capability, with an active policy you can avail the best treatment at any network of hospitals, with the clause that terms and conditions of the policy are met.

How Health Insurance Coverage Works

When you have insurance, you pay some costs and your insurance plan pays some:

Premium: A premium is a fixed amount you pay to your insurance plan, usually every month. You pay this even if you do not use medical care that month.

Deductible: If you need medical care, a deductible is the amount you pay for care before the insurance company starts to pay its share. Once you meet your deductible, your insurance company begins to cover some costs of your care. Some plans have lower deductibles, like $250. Some have higher deductibles, like $2,000. Many plans provide preventive services, and sometimes other care, before you’ve met your deductible.

Co-pay: A co-pay is a fixed amount you will pay for a medical service. For example, a visit to the doctor’s office might cost $150 if you didn’t have coverage. With health insurance, you may pay only $25 and the health plan would pay the rest.

Co-insurance: Co-insurance is similar to co-pay, except it’s a percentage of costs you pay. For instance, you may pay 20% of the cost of a $200 medical bill. So you would pay $40 and the health plan would pay the rest.

How Insurance Protects You

Insurance coverage protects you in two ways from high medical costs:

Out-of-pocket maximum: This is the total amount you will have to pay if you get sick. For example, if your plan has a $3,000 out of pocket maximum, once you pay $3,000 in deductibles, coinsurance, and co-pays the plan will pay for any covered care above that amount for the rest of the year.

No yearly or lifetime limits: Health plans in the Connect For Health Colorado Marketplace cannot put dollar limits on how much they will spend each year or over your lifetime to cover essential health benefits. After you’ve reached your out-of-pocket maximum, your insurance company must pay for all of your covered medical care with no limit.

Health insurance protects you from high medical costs. Imagine you had an emergency and immediately rush to the hospital. At that moment, you need to be having enough cash with you so that you could bear the hospital expenses, so in that case, health insurance will help you to bear the hefty hospital expenses.

Changing lifestyle:

There are a plethora of reasons to have a health insurance policy in place. Commuting, hectic work schedules, wrong eating habits, quality of food, and rising levels of pollution have increased the risk of developing health problems.

Rising medical costs:

Medical costs have dramatically risen lately. So, in case of a medical emergency, consumers end up spending their savings, which takes a toll on their future plans.

Additional benefits:

One also gets benefits such as ambulance coverage, coverage for day-care surgeries, coverage for health check-ups and vaccination expenses under health insurance.

I think health insurance is mandatory for everyone. There are many policies in the market and one can pick one that suits their needs. For me, my parents have a policy that covers me as well.

A good health insurance policy often covers:

Doctor consultation fees

Medical tests

Ambulance charges

Hospitalization costs

Recovery costs

I suggest you do thorough research before picking a policy.

What is your personal health, wellness or beauty tip

When it comes to enjoying life on a daily basis, it all comes down to taking care of your body, mind, emotions and soul to be balanced, achieve good health and well-being. By putting in small and consistent efforts every single day, anybody can lead a happy and wealthy life.

We cannot see or touch it, but stress is something that affects many people. Stress increases blood pressure and quickens your heart rate in the short term. In the long term, stress affects the immune system, brain function, and other organs.

One of the easiest ways to manage stress is by meditating for 20-30 minutes every day. Meditation is relaxing for the mind and the body. Meditating regularly can also help keep chronic stress at bay.

When most people hear the word exercise, they immediately associate it with hitting the gym vigorously. While vigorous exercise is good, heavy lifting for an hour will not undo the negative effects of sitting at a desk all day.

You need to engage in some light physical exercise daily to negate prolonged sitting. Light physical exercises like yoga, cardio, light gym and brisk walks can help negate all the bad effects of prolonged sittings.

There are many different forms of meditation that can help relax your mind, body and soul. Meditation works by affecting the sympathetic nervous system and it fosters intuition, creativity and connection with your inner self.

You need to engage in some light physical exercise daily to negate prolonged sitting. Light physical exercises like yoga, cardio, light gym and brisk walks can help negate all the bad effects of prolonged sittings.

Also, light exercise will also help you lose weight, improve your skin’s appearance, improve your sex life and lessen the risk of chronic diseases. Taking supplements such as probiotics can not only really help boost your immune system as well as improve your skin health, digestion and do moracles.

Wellness is the dynamic process of working toward achieving your maximum potential in each dimension of wellness. Dimensions of wellness include social wellness, occupational wellness, spiritual wellness, physical wellness, intellectual wellness, financial wellness, and community and environmental wellness. All aspects of wellness are intertwined.

Small, simple changes to your everyday habits can make a big difference in how you feel, look and function. For example, exercise is not only heart-healthy, it also reduces stress. Although we will never be able to eliminate the stress of life, research shows that it’s how we deal with stress that counts. The goal isn’t perfection it’s balance.

Try incorporating some of the tips found here and feel the difference! The links below provide suggestions for activities that contribute to wellness, including on and off-campus resources. Occupational wellness is receiving personal fulfillment from one’s work by performing with integrity, enthusiasm and fully engaging in your job duties. Work-life balance is key to occupational wellness.

Physical wellness is the ability to engage fully in activities of our daily life without undue physical strain or fatigue. The ability to recognize the relationship between healthful habits and optimal physical health such as eating a balanced diet, daily exercise, obtaining immunizations, etc. is essential to physical wellness. Conversely, one should recognize that destructive habits such as unsafe sex, tobacco use, not wearing a seat belt can lead to disease, physical harm, and sub-optimal physical health.

Skincare is not one-size-fits-all, so customizing your routine can help get you the best results for your complexion. Multi-masking is when multiple facial masks are used or layered simultaneously on the skin to combat different skin concerns at one time.

Dry shampoo is a last-minute life-saver when you have to be somewhere, but you don't have time to wash your hair. But you may actually get more out of your bottle of dry shampoo if you apply it before going to bed.

Contrary to popular belief, loading up your under eyes with concealer won't erase those dark circles in fact, using a ton of cover up looks really unnatural and can make you look older. Instead, use a thin layer of a sheer concealer that evens out your skin tone without covering up your complexion completely.

What is your secret to glowing skin?

I've spent an embarassing amount of money on skincare and after all that, I've come to this single realisation that outer polish cannot fix inner damage.

A morning face wash, then moisturizer, then sunscreen, then in afternoon, a face pack, then in evening, an ointment, at night, a different facial cleanser and a night cream.

Yet, I never accepted my skin confidently. I'd not look in the eyes of people, I was too scared. What if they realise how poor my skin is?

A year or two later, I called all that hectic skincare schedule quits and simply went on without everything. More than a year, I literally applied one single thing, natural coconut oil!

No face washes, no moisturizers, absolutely nothing. Instead, I fixed my diet, cut the outside crap, included homely food only. If you don't want to eat fancy greenery, it'll still work.

But it'll not work in all heavens if you continue on momos and fries even after a 582-step Korean Egyptian Martian skincare routine.

Currently, I use a cleanser and a moisturizer with SPF. That's just it. Post shaving, I apply natural Aloe Vera on my face, it works wonderfully as an after shave.

Try these simple tricks at home and in a week and feel the change:

Water

Drink 2 glass of water and one cup of warm Lemon-Honey water in the morning. This will make your stomach clean and skin won’t get pimples.

Steam and Ice or Face Pack

Once a week, take steam -> follow up with Ice or apply Aloe Vera gel, let it dry and wash it with water.

Green Tea

Drink one cup of green tea everyday.

Clean Hair

Dirty hair actually affects your skin, makes it oily and worst. Wash your hair at-least twice a week and try to use clean bed-sheet and pillow.

Face wash and Sunscreen

Try not to change the brand frequently. I use Himalaya-Neem face wash.
Apply sunscreen when you go out in sun(any season). I use lakme sunscreen SPF 30.

Sleep

Sleep for at least 8 hours a day and stay happy.

Exercise

This actually makes a lot of difference.Go for any exercises and make the day worth it.

Exercise and sweat it out as it improves blood circulation so nutrients and oxygen supply to skin is rich.

Eat healthy

I don't eat much oily food and also I eat fruits daily. When you adopt a healthy lifestyle your eating habits automatically improves.

I always do face wash after coming from office or anywhere outside and also before bed.

I never go out without sunscreen.

As I get tan easily so I apply besan and tomato on my face whenever I return from my by beach trips.

Drink 4-5 litres of water everyday.

A proper sleep is must in which unfortunately I fail always xD

Wait..it will not help you with your complexion like those t.v ads,but definitely gonna help you with your skin texture.

I drink too much water. It helps. At least 3lt per day.

Wash your face & use natural alo-vera & honey daily.Though i skip some times because of lack of patience. It works but not just applying for a week or month. I’m applying this since my childhood days,i gs .

Drink milk ,eat vegetables.

I avoid any kind of products ,like no face powder ,no foundation,no soap nothing. Normally i use Himalaya face wash only. That’s it.Its good.

luckily I got no pimples on my face. But any neem product helps to reduce pimples.Don't pop the pimples, if you got marks than you can apply “multani mitti”.&avoid junk foods.

What are some beauty tips for men

The three most basic part of skin care are cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. So whether it's men or women this basic process doesn’t change. Cleansing is the most basic and first step of skin care. Cleansing refers washing your face. A good facial cleanser is required. Men tend to have a skin that is a bit oilier than women so find a cleanser those targets normal to oily skin.

Scrubbing is the next step in skin care. Scrubbing is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface to reveal the new skin cells beneath. Choose an exfoliator that contains scrubby particles to help clean out the pores. Make sure you use scrub only once or twice a week.

The next step is moisturizing .It is the process of locking in moisture into the skin. Men shave very often so they need to moisturize their skin more than women. A moisturizer will help to restore your skin moisture content and will help to prevent razor burn. A moisturizer having SPF Is a good choice as it will not only moisturize your skin but also provides required sun protection.
