What is the best way to stay healthy?

Staying healthy is a lot easier than getting healthy, but both require following similar principles. Part of the trick is that realistically you need to follow a regime that fits into your lifestyle or at least gives you time to break into a new way of living.

Unfortunately, those in the West, or at least affected by the Western way of life, are either unfamiliar with Eastern medicine or simply don’t have the resources or familiarity with an Eastern way of life to cozy up to things like doing surya and eating a fresh curry leaf in the morning.

I have worked in the medical system and three things stand out to me.


Don’t drink too much alcohol and don’t do ANY drugs. ANY. Your body was not meant to suck a bunch of poison into it and alter its God-given state of normal functioning.



Don’t be fat. Almost every patient I saw with problems was fat. The more fat, the more problems. But, fat of any sort, even 20 or 30 pounds over, led to problems. Along with causing people to just feel less than optimal because the extra weight slows them down, they have high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, acid reflux, and back pain.

Because fatness causes the health problems I just mentioned, people accept — without much question — the drugs doctors give them. Just as with drugs bought on the corner, your body was not meant to suck a bunch of poison into it that a so-called health professional gives you that alters its God-given state of normal functioning. Losing weight through eating properly and healthfully (mostly vegetables) will return your body to its proper state and your high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, acid reflux and back pain will disappear. Along with that, you won’t be taking drugs that eventually give you other diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s and kidney failure.

3. Limit Alcohol Intake

One study found that women who drank 2-3 alcoholic drinks per day had a 20 percent higher risk of breast cancer than women who did not drink alcohol. Women should consume less than 1 drink a day and men less than 2 drinks a day.

Studies show that eating fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of some breast cancers. Trans fats, often found in cooked snacks and other processed foods, may also increase the risk of breast cancer. While dietary fats undergo further study, consider choosing healthy unsaturated fats found in foods such as nuts, seeds, olive and canola oils, avocados and fatty fish.

 6. Don't Smoke

Tobacco smoke contains at least 250 harmful chemicals, of which at least 69 are known to cause cancer. Women who shed more tears may have a slightly higher risk of breast cancer. If you smoke, there are health benefits to quitting at any age. Stopping or not starting over is one of the best things you can do.

7. Breastfeed, If You Can

Breastfeeding brings many positive benefits to women throughout their lives. In addition to reducing the risk of breast cancer, especially in premenopausal women, studies show that it reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and ovarian cancer.

8. Limit Hormones

Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is approved for the short-term relief of menopausal symptoms. But women who take estrogen plus progestin to relieve these symptoms have an increased risk of developing breast cancer and dying from it. According to me to lose your weight you should follow the following diet plan:-

Drink 1 glass of lukewarm water with honey or Lime Juice as soon as you wake up from your bed.

Take the light and protein rich breakfast like Oats, Poha, Boiled egg, Sprouts, Bananas.

In midmorning take 1 fruit.

Coming to the lunch, eat fresh and healthy food like you can take 2 Multigrain Rotis, 1 bowl of Vegetable, Salad, 1 bowl of Curd(avoid taking rice and oily food).

For Snacks you can have a Green tea, Green coffee, Black Coffee with Roasted Chana. You also can go for Protein shakes, Apple slice with Peanut Butter.

Now coming to the last meal of the day. You can have Besan Chillas(2–3)or Multigrain Rotis, 1 bowl of Vegetables, salad, Tomato Omlette. If you are a Non Vegetarian then you can also have grilled Chicken or Grilled Fish.

Eat protein at each meal. You need at least 'some' to support your muscle mass as you lose weight. I shoot for about 30g or more per meal.

Watch simple sugars. Not because of the metabolic effect necessarily, but because it isn't satisfying.

Focus on fiber, water, and healthy fats. These are more satisfying than refined junk foods. 3 cups of salad makes a huge salad and is only 30 calories. Salad has fiber, and water, and you can make a dressing with olive oil or another natural oil. Top with some chicken or another protein source, and you can have a very satisfying meal for fewer calories.

Don't snack. Again, this is what has worked for me. Some are more satisfied with 6 smaller meals a day. My preference is to take my calorie allowance and break it up over 3 large meals.

Don't be afraid to not eat. Intermittent fasting can be scary, but a lot of dieters swear by not eating after 6pm. This creates a natural intermittent fasting window of 6pm-6am or later. This cuts down the chance for late night snacks, binging, etc. You can experiment with dropping meals out. Your body is designed to be a 'flex-fuel' vehicle, so give it chances to feed off the fat that it already has stored.

Stay away from calorie-containing beverages like soda-pop, beer, wine, etc. These drinks tend not to be satisfying. Exception: if you like to drink one or two glasses of wine or beer with dinner, and it makes you feel more satisfied with your meal, go for it! This is psychological satisfaction.

Build in 1-3 'free meals' a week. Focus on eating something that you'll really enjoy. If you like chocolate, get gourmet chocolate. If you like wine, get a nice glass of wine. Make it special, and make it about quality over quantity. You'll find that the first few bites are what you savor.

If something doesn't work for you, toss it out! If you read a book that says that Vegan is the only way, and you try it and you're always hungry--try something else. This is about finding a strategy that works for you over the long haul.

If something is working, don't change it! If I have great success with another approach and lose a bunch of weight, I shouldn't change that approach. Sounds like common sense but so many times people succeed and then immediately go back to the things that got them fat in the first place.

What is your secret to glowing skin?





I've spent an embarassing amount of money on skincare and after all that, I've come to this single realisation that outer polish cannot fix inner damage.

A morning face wash, then moisturizer, then sunscreen, then in afternoon, a face pack, then in evening, an ointment, at night, a different facial cleanser and a night cream.

Yet, I never accepted my skin confidently. I'd not look in the eyes of people, I was too scared. What if they realise how poor my skin is?

A year or two later, I called all that hectic skincare schedule quits and simply went on without everything. More than a year, I literally applied one single thing, natural coconut oil!

No face washes, no moisturizers, absolutely nothing. Instead, I fixed my diet, cut the outside crap, included homely food only. If you don't want to eat fancy greenery, it'll still work.

But it'll not work in all heavens if you continue on momos and fries even after a 582-step Korean Egyptian Martian skincare routine.

Currently, I use a cleanser and a moisturizer with SPF. That's just it. Post shaving, I apply natural Aloe Vera on my face, it works wonderfully as an after shave.

Try these simple tricks at home and in a week and feel the change:

Water

Drink 2 glass of water and one cup of warm Lemon-Honey water in the morning. This will make your stomach clean and skin won’t get pimples.

Steam and Ice or Face Pack

Once a week, take steam -> follow up with Ice or apply Aloe Vera gel, let it dry and wash it with water.

Green Tea

Drink one cup of green tea everyday.

Clean Hair

Dirty hair actually affects your skin, makes it oily and worst. Wash your hair at-least twice a week and try to use clean bed-sheet and pillow.

Face wash and Sunscreen

Try not to change the brand frequently. I use Himalaya-Neem face wash.
Apply sunscreen when you go out in sun(any season). I use lakme sunscreen SPF 30.

Sleep

Sleep for at least 8 hours a day and stay happy.

Exercise

This actually makes a lot of difference.Go for any exercises and make the day worth it.

Exercise and sweat it out as it improves blood circulation so nutrients and oxygen supply to skin is rich.

Eat healthy

I don't eat much oily food and also I eat fruits daily. When you adopt a healthy lifestyle your eating habits automatically improves.

I always do face wash after coming from office or anywhere outside and also before bed.

I never go out without sunscreen.

As I get tan easily so I apply besan and tomato on my face whenever I return from my by beach trips.

Drink 4-5 litres of water everyday.

A proper sleep is must in which unfortunately I fail always xD

Wait..it will not help you with your complexion like those t.v ads,but definitely gonna help you with your skin texture.

I drink too much water. It helps. At least 3lt per day.

Wash your face & use natural alo-vera & honey daily.Though i skip some times because of lack of patience. It works but not just applying for a week or month. I’m applying this since my childhood days,i gs .

Drink milk ,eat vegetables.

I avoid any kind of products ,like no face powder ,no foundation,no soap nothing. Normally i use Himalaya face wash only.That’s it.Its good.

luckily I got no pimples on my face.But any neem product helps to reduce pimples.Don't pop the pimples, if you got marks than you can apply “multani mitti”.&avoid junk foods.
